This year Cape Range Riders held its first family day for all the community to join in. In the past, we have held club and inter club events with great success. Riders from as young as three and up to sixty years of age tackled the Spinifex trail, with Pindan the dust of choice to cover us, leaving room only for big smiles on everyone’s faces.
The day started with some nervous excitement among some who have never attempted to ride a mountain bike off road. After a group briefing we were on the way, with club members spread out along the course to help all riders navigate the features in front of them. There were squeals of laughter, a few close misses and a bucket load of fun. Some riders chose to ride the trail twice, as they couldn’t get enough of the experience.
At the end of the trail, Baz was set up with sausages cooking and cold water awaiting all riders as they arrived back at the car park. It was certainly a great success, with some riders joining the club, and reports of most of the kids asking their parents to take them back out again the following weekend.
A big shout goes out to all the volunteers who helped out on the day.
